In October 2008, District American Kitchen and Wine Bar opened as the first of its kind in downtown Phoenix, attracting locals and travelers alike with its traditional American comfort foods served with a contemporary twist. Located at the Northwest corner of Third Street and Van Buren, on the first level of Sheraton Grand Phoenix, District American Kitchen and Wine Bar melds into the fabric of the core of downtown Phoenix, embracing its inherent energy with open-air patio seating and warm, modern design. Featuring seasonal, local, farm-to-table American cuisine, District is committed to serving the best products available. The ingredients used to craft the dishes and cocktails are sourced from a variety of local, organic, natural and sustainable sources. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, District American Kitchen and Wine Bar offers a wide variety of sophisticated, yet accessible regional fare, as well as spectacular happy hour selections. Happy hour is available Monday through Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. and reverse happy hour from 11 p.m. to close, featuring $5 sangria, $3 local draft microbrews, and lower prices on small plates.

Chef Angy Dykstra
Chef De Cuisine Angy Dykstra
With over 20 years of culinary and hospitality experience, Chef de Cuisine Angy Dykstra has worked her way up to the helm of District American Kitchen and Wine Bar.

Chef Angy joined the Sheraton Grand Phoenix in 2010 as a Cook in District American Kitchen & Wine Bar. She moved into a leadership role in 2013, where she has since worked side-by-side with our team of chefs to maintain the stellar reputation of our restaurant in the local Downtown Phoenix market.

Chef Angy graduated from The Art Institute of Phoenix in 2010 with her Associates Degree in Culinary Arts. Growing up in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri gives Chef Angy her passion for farm-to-table cuisine, which echoes what the hotel stands for- keeping the traditional style of American comfort food served with a contemporary twist.
Executive sous chef Josh Johnson
Executive Sous Chef Josh Johnson
As Executive Sous Chef for Sheraton Grand Phoenix, Chef Joshua Johnson brings both passion and meticulous attention to detail to the role.

Prior to joining Sheraton Grand Phoenix, he served as Chef de Cuisine of Kai, the only AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five Star restaurant in Arizona, located at Sheraton Grand Wild Horse Pass. While at Kai, Johnson focused on the creation of seasonally fresh gourmet dishes inspired by the history and culture of the Pima and Maricopa people. The experience with the restaurant allowed him to continue to nurture his natural enthusiasm for using fresh, local ingredients which he continues.

With culinary experience spanning more than two decades, Chaz Frankenfield embraces his role as Executive Chef at Sheraton Grand Phoenix. Possessing a wealth of knowledge in the culinary arts and exceptional leadership experience, Frankenfield oversees the daily operations of the kitchen.

Previously, Frankenfield was the Executive Sous Chef at The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, having been promoted for his dedication and hard work while serving as Chef de Cuisine at the nationally renown, five-diamond Marquesa.
Pastry chef Jolie Skwiercz
Pastry Chef Jolie Skwiercz
Recognized for her talents with sculpture, Skwiercz brings true passion and artistry to the 1,000-room hotel and its signature restaurant, District American Kitchen and Wine Bar.

Her distinguished career has taken her across the country, working for several premiere resort properties. Most recently, Chef Skwiercz served as pastry chef at The Wigwam Resort and Spa where she managed the daily production of fine pastries and confectionaries.

Prior to her time at The Wigwam, Chef Skwiercz worked at a number of locations including Cancer Treatment Center of America in Goodyear, Ariz., and Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
